Season 5 closes quietly

Season five ended back in July, but the season was really over after CMoney took down another 1st place finish in June. The championship was already spoken for and second place was nearly a lock for Mini-Muth barring a miracle for Jodizzle. With only 10 of the 13 members showing up it would make it even tougher to overcome the points differential.

It's been a long time since the tournament so the details are a little hazy, but I do have a log of the bust hands:

10th : Mini-Muth falls to HumpinHorses getting trapped Q8 vs 88 on an 8 high board. With top pair and a decent kicker, Mini-Muth read HumpinHorses flop raise as a steal and pushed over the top. Drawing nearly dead he busts in 10th which is exactly what Jodizzle needed to happen to have a chance at 2nd for the season. It would take a 3rd place or better finish for her to leapfrog Mini-Muth in the points and overtake him. Achievement(s): Early Retirement

9th : HumpinHorses continued to shatter dreams when his AA held up against Chuckles' 44 on a flop of K77. Chuckles ends his first season as a DDR member, out in 9th. Chuckles showed steady improvement during the season, cashing in the May tournament and having the pleasure of busting Coopzilla and Mojo during the season.

8th : DiceMan falls with AQ vs CMoney's QhTh on an all heart flop. I can't remember the preflop action on this hand. Diceman cashed in one tournament this season and will be looking for improvement in season 6.

7th: HumpinHorses re-raises all in with 33 in an attempt to steal from TheCanuck after an initial raise. Instead he calls with A5 and is happy to see that he's in a coin flip situation. Unfortunately after the flop bricked, HumpinHorses picked up a 3 on the turn and TheCanuck was drawing dead. TheCanuck had two cash finishes in season 5 and is still holding steady as the most unpredictable player at the table.

6th : Mojo's worst season to date is ended abruptly after he gets his chips in good with AT on a flop of KT5 called by SlimChance with QJ and the open ended straight draw. The blank on the turn looked good but Mojo couldn't fade the 9 on the river and busts. Mojo finishes the season with just a single top 3 finish and multiple early busts.

5th : CMoney's tournament ended in one of the only two ways possible. Either he wins, or takes a bad beat to be eliminated. With a mountain of chips he re-raises Coopzilla's preflop raise all-in with AQ. Coopzilla hates folding, and really hates folding to CMoney. He decides to call with his slightly bigger mountain of chips with A7. In true Coopzilla style, a 7 pops on the flop to give him the edge and he takes down the season champ and the $50 bounty. This was the only tournament this season that CMoney didn't finish 1st or 2nd.

4th : Having already taken down the deuce deuce bonus and the bounty, Coopzilla was in prime position to nab the triple crown, a feat that's only been done twice in 28 tournaments. With a huge pile of chips after eliminating CMoney, he decides to get funky against SlimChance who had the overwhelming chip lead at the time. In a round of "turnabout is fair play" Coopzilla got his chips in with AJ dominating SlimChance's J5, only to see a 5 flop and put him out of the tournament on the bubble. Coopzilla finishes his worst season having cashed only once. Achievement(s): Bubble Finish, Problem Solver, Bounty Hunter.

With this elimination, Jodizzle who was hanging on severely short stacked officially became the 2nd place finisher for the league championship, earning the $100 for the second straight season. Also recall that if not for a huge suckout in the season 4 finale (CMoney's AKo hit a flush against her AA), she would have been the champ.

3rd : Jodizzle busts in the money and at the minimum finish to overtake Mini-Muth's 2nd place points in the league. In what seemed like the pattern for the night, her AT could not hold up against HumpinHorses' A9 when a 9 hit the flop. Three cashes and a bubble finish were enough to take down 2nd place in the championship. Achievement(s): On the Podium, Money Maker

After Mini-Muth started the season with a 2nd and 1st place finish, the emotional damage of not placing in the top 2 was enough to send him packing. He will not be returning in season 6 - will we ever hear the rantings and ravings of "the best player at the table" again?

2nd : HumpinHorses started the heads up match at a huge chip disadvantage. SlimChance had accumulated 90% of the chips in play and the game ended quickly. HumpinHorses pushed all in with 87 and was called by A5. Two fives on the flop were more than enough to crown a winner. HumpinHorses had not cashed all season and desperately needed this to re-establish himself as a force in the league. Achievement(s): On the Podium, Money Maker.

1st : SlimChance who had a horrific season 5 got the last laugh by taking down the final tournament with an inflated prize pool due to CMoney's insane rebuy period (9 rebuys). While finishing dead last in points, he earned enough to finish 4th in money. This was actually the first final table he made the entire season, finishing the last five tournaments in 11th, 13th, 12th, 10th, 10th.

This was a historic season - it started as a battle between CMoney and Mini-Muth who finished 1, 2, 1 and 2, 1, 3 to start the season. CMoney would go on to win the next two tournaments, making it three in a row to put the season championship out of reach. Due to the aforementioned luck in season 4 against Jodizzle, CMoney becomes the first back-to-back champion, as well as the first two-time champion.

Those who didn't show up to the finale:

DoctorLove : Earns the "I hate money" award for having not cashed in a single tournament during season 5. He at least earns an achievement: Rough Season.

Motown : Showed some of his early DDR brilliance but proved to be too distracted at the table most times to make a good run. Still had two cashes, including a painful 2nd place finish to CMoney in tournament 4 after having a dominating 8:1 chip advantage to start heads up play.

StillNotFat : Hating money almost as much as DoctorLove, StillNotFat came in with a 4th place finish in his last DDR tournament for a single cash during the season. He is opting-out of season six presumably to read some poker books. We hope to see him back for season 7.

Prize pool: $700

1st: SlimChance $319
2nd: HumpinHorses $174
3rd: Jodizzle $87

Bounty + DD Bonus: Coopzilla $70
